Marina Catallozzi, MD, MSCE

Dr. Marina Catallozzi is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons and of Population and Family Health at the Mailman School of Public Health at the Mailman School of Public Health. Dr. Catallozzi was an undergraduate and medical student at Brown University in the Program in Liberal Medical Education, where she developed a deep appreciation for humanism in medicine, medical education, and effective and supportive mentoring. This appreciation grew into a profound commitment at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where she completed her pediatrics residency, chief residency and fellowship in Adolescent Medicine. To more effectively answer questions that arise for adolescents and the communities that support them, she pursued a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania. From 2004 to 2006, she served as the Medical Director of the Adolescent AIDS Program at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York.  During her tenure there she was a faculty member of the New York/New Jersey AIDS Education and Training Center and the Co-Principal Investigator of the Adolescent AIDS Program's Adolescent Trials Network site.  She joined Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) in 2006, where she has held a variety of leadership roles including the founding Director of the Adolescent Consult Service, Medical Director of the Lang Youth Medical Program, Director of the Family PEACE Program for children and families exposed to domestic violence. At Mailman School of Public Health, she served as Co-Leader of the Sexual and Reproductive Health Certificate, Director of the General Public Health Program, course leader for a qualitative research methods course, and faculty in the Mailman Core Curriculum. She served as the Pediatric Clerkship Director, Medical Education Scholarly Projects Track Director and co-founded the Columbia COVID-19 Student Service Corps. Dr. Catallozzi is an expert in qualitative methods and education science. Her research and publications span topics that include adolescent health and health services. From 2021 through 2024, she served as the Vice President for Health & Wellness at Barnard College, an affiliate women’s college of Columbia University. 

Dr. Catallozzi is an Adolescent Medicine specialist and is board-certified in both Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. She has an active adolescent medicine practice in Washington Heights, New York, and is dedicated to improving the health of the community; she uses a strengths-based approach to adolescent patient care, programming, and research. She currently serves as the Vice Chair for Education and Executive Vice Chair for the Department of Pediatrics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
